The project envisages a comprehensive school in Favara that equips the neighbourhood with spaces of aggregation and new educational, didactic and recreational opportunities. The project area lies on a steeply sloping site, so the proposal turns this into a system, defining a building that mediates the change in level by settling on the western edge of the plot, freeing wide portions to the east and south and establishing strong relationships with the surrounding fabric.
The common spaces, outdoor and indoor, are conceived as multipurpose environments of education and inclusion. Entry occurs at the upper level of the plot and connects visually and spatially with the school garden through a wide flight of steps that also serves as an auditorium for the school and a civic hall for the neighbourhood. Inside, the informal space between the classrooms is animated by a system of green, luminous courts recalling the courtyards of the historic centre of Favara.
