The design idea regards the new school not only as an innovative learning space, but as a genuine place of community, conceived to foster exchange and integration. The proposal inserts three base volumes containing the shared functions of the school citadel, permeable and crossable by the green and sports spaces, above which sits the volume holding the classrooms and laboratory spaces.
The intervention lies within a landscape of value with a predominantly agricultural character: on one side the massif of Monte Catalfano and, beyond, the sea; on the other a stretch of citrus groves. The complex was considered as a whole, with the park as the hinge of the future campus. The construction choices reflect the type of learning space: a more traditional framed system for the classrooms, and an exoskeleton system that frees the plan of the volume housing the gymnasium and laboratories.
