The project to regenerate and update the display of the Civic Museum of Castelbuono aimed to improve the use of the spaces and enhance the artistic and architectural heritage of the Ventimiglia castle. Through precise, respectful and reversible actions, the intervention makes the museum and its exhibition routes clearer, more accessible and more coherent, strengthening the dialogue between the works on display and the historical context that hosts them.
The proposal is founded on a respectful, reversible and recognisable approach. The new elements, counter-walls, panels and furnishings, are conceived as autonomous, easily removable structures able to integrate with the existing architecture without altering its character, enhancing the castle not only as a container but as an integral part of the museum experience.
The new visiting routes guide the visitor more fluidly through the museum spaces, favouring a clearer reading of the collections. The counter-walls, painted in light and delicate colours, create a sober, neutral atmosphere that enhances the works on display and dialogues harmoniously with the historical colours of the castle.
